Family Visa in Bahrain
Family Visa for Wife, Kids & Parents - Sponsor Family in Bahrain

If you live and work in Bahrain, you can bring your family to live with you. The family visa (also called a dependant visa) lets you sponsor your wife or husband, your children and, under current rules, your parents. GovtLink Solutions prepares the documents and handles the application in Manama so you do not lose time.

Who can you sponsor?
Different relatives have different salary requirements.
- Your wife or husband
- Your children
- Your parents (the 2021 rule update widened the definition of family)
Salary requirement
The authority can make exceptions in special cases.
- Spouse and children under 24: monthly income of at least BHD 400
- Parents and children over 24: monthly income of at least BHD 1,000, plus valid health insurance in Bahrain
Who can sponsor?
A person with a valid Bahrain residence and work permit, or a business owner with residence, who meets the income requirement. The Bahrain family visa is applied for through the proper channels, usually with a PRO, so most people use a service like ours.

Our service fee is BHD 150 per person.
Government visa fees differ by case and nationality, and we give you the exact amount before we start. The time is not fixed and depends on the authority and your company.
Can my wife work or study?
A dependant visa is for living in Bahrain. Working needs a separate work permit. Children can attend school in Bahrain.
Common reasons for delay
- Documents not attested or not translated
- Salary on the contract does not match the bank statement
- Tenancy contract not registered
- No health insurance for dependants
Family visa for different relatives
Wife or husband. The simplest case. You need the attested marriage certificate, the passports and proof of income. Once the visa is issued, your spouse travels to Bahrain and completes the medical test and residence permit.
Children. Each child needs their own visa and birth certificate. Children under 24 follow the lower salary level. Older children are treated like parents and follow the higher level.
Parents. Parents are accepted under the 2021 update. The sponsor must show a higher income and each parent must have valid health insurance in Bahrain. This is the case where we see the most rejections, because the insurance or income proof is not clear. We prepare it carefully before applying.
What is a good home and income proof?
Immigration asks that you can support your family. Strong proof is a salary slip that matches your bank statement, and a tenancy contract in your name that is registered with the authority. If your salary is paid in cash, or the address is shared and not registered, the application is more likely to be questioned. If you are not sure whether your papers are enough, send us copies and we tell you before you apply.
Family visa step by step in more detail
- Before you start: we check your residence card, salary and tenancy.
- Documents abroad: your family gets the marriage and birth certificates attested in their home country. This is often the slowest step, so start early.
- Translation: documents not in Arabic or English need an official translation.
- Application: we submit the visa application with all papers.
- After approval: your family travels to Bahrain within the validity of the visa.
- After arrival: medical test, fingerprints, residence permit and CPR card for each person.
- Health insurance and school: you set up insurance, and we can guide you on school registration.
Why families choose GovtLink
Family visas fail on small details: a certificate that was not attested, a salary slip that does not match the bank statement, or a tenancy that is not registered. We review every paper before it is submitted, tell you what to fix, and keep you updated on WhatsApp. You do not need to visit offices or wait in queues. For families coming from abroad, we also explain what to bring on the day of arrival, so the medical test and residence permit go smoothly.
How a family visa differs from a visit visa
A visit visa lets a relative stay for a short time and does not give residence. A family visa gives long-term residence linked to your own permit. If your family plans to stay, use the family visa. If it is only a short holiday, a visit visa is cheaper and faster.
